Collectors often underestimate how strongly Syngoniums respond to humidity and temperature. These two factors are central to preserving variegation, leaf shape, and growth.

Humidity: the pastel safeguard

• Pastel pinks and creams are the first to suffer when air dries out. Their thin leaves lose moisture quickly, leading to curled edges and brown spots. Keep them at 60–70% humidity for ideal growth.

• Green and chocolate cultivars endure average home humidity but will still push larger leaves in a more humid environment.

Practical tip: even a simple tray of pebbles with water can lift humidity around your plants.

Temperature: stable is better

Syngoniums dislike drama. A range of 18–27 °C is perfect. Rapid fluctuations — open windows in winter, heaters blasting in summer — cause stress. Pastel varieties are the most sensitive, while hardy greens can take mild drafts without complaint.

Why collectors care
