Humidity and Temperature for Rare Syngonium Varieties
Syngonium Red Feather
Collectors often underestimate how strongly Syngoniums respond to humidity and temperature. These two factors are central to preserving variegation, leaf shape, and growth.
Humidity: the pastel safeguard
Pastel pinks and creams are the first to suffer when air dries out. Their thin leaves lose moisture quickly, leading to curled edges and brown spots. Keep them at 60–70% humidity for ideal growth.
Green and chocolate cultivars endure average home humidity but will still push larger leaves in a more humid environment.
Practical tip: even a simple tray of pebbles with water can lift humidity around your plants.
Temperature: stable is better
Syngoniums dislike drama. A range of 18–27 °C is perfect. Rapid fluctuations — open windows in winter, heaters blasting in summer — cause stress. Pastel varieties are the most sensitive, while hardy greens can take mild drafts without complaint.
Why collectors care
A Pink Salmon will keep its vibrant tones only if protected from cold nights. A Raspberry Pink on Pink — one of the rarest cultivars — may drop its unique hues if stressed. Stable conditions are the invisible foundation of every healthy collection.
